Victoria handyDART Facility Project

Proposed handyDART Operations and Maintenance Facility

Re: 2401 Burnside Road, Victoria BC
Town of View Royal Planning Application Reference # 2018-02

The existing handyDART facility on Glanford Avenue cannot support the need for future growth. View Royal is a well-suited location as it is centrally located and near main roads connecting Greater Victoria communities.

BC Transit recently applied to the Town of View Royal to amend the Official Community Plan and re-zone the property at 2401 Burnside Road (southeast of the Burnside/Watkiss intersection) to locate a new regional handyDART operations and maintenance facility. handyDART is a door-to-door shared transit service for people with permanent or temporary disabilities that prevent them from using conventional or fixed-route transit without assistance.

This process included a BC Transit-led open house on February 20, 2018. In November 2017, and again in early February, BC Transit notified the surrounding community of the proposed site through door-to-door visits.
