Transfers in the South-Okanagan-Similkameen Transit System
Need to use more than one bus to reach your destination? Follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth connection:
- 90-Minute Window: A transfer allows for travel on the next connecting bus within 90 minutes of trip departure without incurring an additional fare, unless you are transfering from a local to regional route. Transfers in the South-Okanagan-Similkameen Transit System are valid when connecting from a local bus to a local bus, from a regional bus to a local bus, or from a regional bus to a regional bus.
- Travel with Umo: If you are using a Umo-enabled fare product, your electronic transfer is automatically applied. Simply tap your card or scan your app when boarding your first bus. When you board your second bus, tap or scan again – Umo recognizes your active transfer and you won’t be charged a second time. However, a top-up of $1.75 will automatically be applied when transferring from a local bus to a regional bus.
- Paying with Cash: If you’re paying with cash, please request a paper transfer from the driver as soon as you board your first bus. When boarding your next bus, show the transfer to the driver with the expiry time clearly visible. Please note that the expiry time is final. If you’re transferring from a local bus to a regional bus, you will be required to pay a $1.75 top-up cash fare.
