Planning a group outing? BC Transit makes it easy for everyone to ride together. You can purchase bulk DayPASS tokens, giving each rider unlimited travel for the day.

Group travel refers to larger groups riding the same bus at the same time. This may include youth programs, community centre outings, school field trips, or sports teams travelling together.

Please note that bus space is available on a first‑come, first‑served basis, and capacity may vary depending on the route and time of day.

Getting ready to travel

  • Consider travelling during mid‑morning or early afternoon when buses are typically less busy.
  • Avoid rush hours and school dismissal times so your group can board together more easily.
  • Use the BC Transit Trip Planner to map your route and plan your schedule.
  • Arrive at your stop at least 5 minutes early so your group is ready when the bus arrives.
  • If you are travelling with a group of youth, visit BusReady for tips, videos, and tools that help young riders learn to ride transit confidently.

Paying for your group

  • DayPASS tokens are available for groups travelling in Victoria.
  • Tokens cost $6 each and are sold in sheets of 20.
  • Each rider needs one DayPASS token with a QR code. Your DayPASS starts working when you scan it on the bus for the first time. Scan the token every time you get on a bus, and keep it with you so you can use it all day.
  • DayPASS tokens expire at the end of the service day and cannot be used again.
  • Tokens can be purchased in person at BC Transit (520 Gorge Road East, Victoria). Pay by credit or with debit card.
  • For large orders, please email umovendors@bctransit.com before your visit to confirm availability.

Group safety and etiquette

  • Stand back from the curb while waiting for the bus.
  • Let passengers exit before your group boards.
  • Move toward the back of the bus and keep aisles clear.
  • For youth groups or day camps, place a leader at the front and back of the group to help with boarding and supervision.
  • Speak quietly and respect other riders.
  • Press the stop button early before your stop.
  • Say thank you to your bus driver when you exit the bus.
