New youth program launches September 6

If you’re 13 to 18, you can ride for free with the Fare-Free Youth Transit Program. Your pass is valid for one year on all routes except the NCX regional route.

How to Get Your Pass

The RDN manages the Fare-Free Youth Transit Program. Learn what you’ll need to bring for proof of eligibility, where to get your pass and more at rdn.bc.ca/youth-transit-passes.

Your pass will be loaded directly to your Umo account. Choose the option that works best for you:

Umo Card: Bring your current Umo Card or get a new one when you pick up your pass. Create an account and register your card at ca.umopass.com in case your card is lost.

Umo Mobility App: Download the app before you arrive. Sign in to your account or create one if you’re new to Umo. Staff will load the Youth Pass directly to the app.

How to Use Your Youth Pass

To ride for free, you must scan or tap your Youth Pass every time you board.

  • Umo app: Open the app and select Code from the bottom menu. Scan the QR code at the onboard validator.
  • Umo card: Tap your card at the onboard validator when you board.

You’re good to go when you see the green check mark.
