If handyDART cannot meet your travel request, the Taxi Saver program gives you another way to get around in Greater Victoria.
Many riders use a mix of fixed route, handyDART, and Taxi Saver depending on their trip.
To use Taxi Saver, you must:
- Be a permanently registered handyDART customer
- Be 12 years of age or older
- Have a handyPASS
handyPASS
A handyPASS is a photo ID card for permanent handyDART customers.
You need a handyPASS to:
- Buy and use Taxi Saver coupons
- Take Taxi Saver taxi trips
- Travel with an attendant on fixed route so your attendant can ride free
To apply, include a passport photo with your handyDART registration application.

Taxi Saver
Taxi Saver vouchers help cover the cost of one time taxi trips when handyDART is not available.
- Available only to permanently registered handyDART riders
- Provides a 50 percent subsidy on taxi fares
- Requires a handyPASS to use

How to Purchase Taxi Saver Coupons
You need a handyPASS to buy and use Taxi Saver coupons.
Eligible riders can buy:
- An $80 package of coupons for $40
- One package per month
- Coupons in $1, $2, and $5 values
By Mail
Send your order with your handyPASS number, a return address and a cheque in the amount of $40 (for one sheet) made payable to “Comox Valley Regional District”

How to Use Taxi Saver Coupons
Book your taxi directly with a participating company. Confirm they accept Taxi Saver vouchers.
When booking:
- Tell the dispatcher it is a Taxi Saver trip
- Let them know if you need a wheelchair accessible vehicle
Use coupons to pay the metered fare. If the fare is $5.80, you pay $5.00 in coupons and $0.80 in cash. Taxi drivers do not give change for vouchers.

- Taxi drivers cannot give change for Taxi Saver vouchers
- Vouchers cannot be used as tips
- Vouchers cannot be transferred to other people or transit systems
