Start up funding has been provided by the Vancouver Island
Health Authority. The two buses have been purchased with funds
from the federal gas tax. Costs are shared by the Regional District
of Mount Waddington, Quatsino First Nations, Gwasala-Nakwada
Band and Kwakiutl Band, as well as passenger fares.
Decisions about fares, routes and service levels are made by
the Regional District of Mount Waddington Board based on recommendations
from Mount Waddington Transportation Advisory Committee and
on information and planning provided by BC Transit.
The transit system is operated by the North Island Community
Services Society and operates in conjunction with the Volunteer
Transportation Network.
