Five individuals and one team are being recognized as Transit SuperStars for going above and beyond in service to their communities and coworkers, while demonstrating a strong a strong commitment to excellence.
“BC Transit is grateful and proud of the latest Transit SuperStars, who have displayed consistent commitment and care in their work,” said Jim Ross, Vice President of Operations and Chief Operating Officer for BC Transit. “Public transit is more than just getting people to their destination safely, it’s about community. These honourees deserve all the accolades and acknowledgement we can give them for their dedication.”
Every year, BC Transit recognizes excellence and celebrates the Transit SuperStars making a positive difference in transit systems across the province. Each winner meets one or more of our core values: Safety First, Adapt and Thrive, Community Minded and Team Spirit.
Here are the latest Transit SuperStar award winners:
Tom Dool, Research Analyst, Regional District of Central Kootenay – Tom has consistently gone above and beyond in his role, making outstanding contributions to transit services across an expansive and complex region. He prioritizes transit and demonstrates responsiveness to customers, operating partners at the City of Nelson, and BC Transit employees.
Kylie Hamblin, Operator, Keolis Canada – After witnessing a regular handyDART customer suffer a devastating fall on the sidewalk in Terrace, Kylie showed tremendous compassion and kindness bystaying with the person at the hospital for several hours, holding their hand until family members could arrive.
Thomas Kolodinski, South Island Maintenance Manager, Transdev Canada – During the move to the new View Royal handyDART Centre and restart of service in the Cowichan Valley, Thomas demonstrated an extraordinary ability to navigate complexity, respond to uncertainty, and deliver results without compromising safety or standards. He consistently fosters a culture of professionalism and collaboration.
Princeton & District Community Services Society Team – The collective efforts of this team help connect communities and provide an essential service for both local and regional customers throughout the Similkameen Valley. Providing rural transit comes with unique challenges, but the team consistently works to ensure riders can safely and reliably reach their destinations.
Bruno Rempel, Fleet Maintenance Manager, Penticton Transit – Bruno is the winner of the annual Rodi De Vuono Award for Outstanding Service. Over his twenty-year career, he consistently demonstrates a positive, solution-focused attitude in everything he does. He takes great pride in maintaining a top‑notch fleet and regularly meets or exceeds expectations throughout the fleet inspection process. Bruno’s attention to detail and commitment to quality ensures that the BC Transit fleet remains safe, reliable, and ready for service.
Mohinder Bhoondpaul, Transit Operator, Transdev Canada – The winner of the annual Mike Docherty Lifetime Achievement Award, Mohinder proudly served the Cowichan Valley for 32 years before retiring at the end of 2025. As the first Transit Operator hired in the region, he made history by also welcoming the very first passenger onboard when transit service was first introduced, marking the beginning of a career that helped shape public transportation in the community. Throughout his career, Mohinder consistently went above and beyond his role. He was always willing to step in, support his colleagues, and ensure service was delivered safely and reliably.
The Transit SuperStar winners are employees working for BC Transit’s operating and local government partners. They were recently recognized and presented with plaques at an awards dinner during BC Transit’s Partner Engagement workshop in Penticton.
