TERRACE – The City of Terrace, Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine and BC Transit are pleased to support Riverboat Days with FREE rides on conventional and handyDART buses on August 2 and August 3, 2014. On both days, BC Transit will operate a Saturday schedule.
Riverboat Days showcases the culture, heritage and vitality of Terrace with sporting events, concerts, historical tours, local food and artistic displays. Riverboat Days is the largest community festival in British Columbia’s northwest region.
“From canoes to riverboats to trains, transportation is intrinsic to the development of Terrace and the Skeena region,” said Todd Stone, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure. “How fitting it is to celebrate Riverboat Days by taking a free ride on BC Transit to the weekend events.”
“Riverboat Days is a highpoint of Terrace’s cultural calendar,” said Terrace Mayor David Pernarowski. “Free public transportation on August 2 & 3 will help make it easier to get around. I hope residents and visitors alike will take advantage of this opportunity to see more of what Terrace has to offer.”
“BC Transit is pleased to support this important community celebration,” said BC Transit President and CEO Manuel Achadinha. “We hope everyone who takes the free ride to Riverboat Days, will continue to make public transit their transportation choice.”
The Terrace Regional Transit System is funded by the City of Terrace, Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine and BC Transit.
