7 April 2026

BC Transit and the Village of Pemberton are advising customers of a fare change, effective April 19, 2026.

This change is the result of a fare review conducted by BC Transit and the Village of Pemberton in 2025 and reflects an increase in operating costs. The fare change was approved by local council, in consultation with the Squamish Lillooet Regional District and the Lil’wat Nation and is the first fare change since 2010.

As part of this change, fare options are being streamlined into a universal Single Ride fare for all riders on both local fixed routes and the Pemberton Commuter. The removal of the concession single-ride option will make it easier for those using the tap-to-pay, or contactless, option when boarding a bus.

Please see the chart below for all the changes:

This pass allows for unlimited trips on the Pemberton Commuter which travels between Pemberton and Whistler, all routes in the Whistler Transit System and local Pemberton Transit System.

There will also be a new fare program introduced as part of this change:

ProPASS is an employer-based transit benefit that allows employees to access unlimited transit travel at a discounted rate through payroll deductions. It’s free for employers to join, and once enrolled, they can offer their staff a convenient, affordable, and discounted way to commute using BC Transit. Employees receive their transit access through the Umo app or card, making it easy to tap and ride. Employers interested in participating can contact propass@bctransit.com to get started or learn more at bctransit.com/propass/

Riders using fixed-route transit service who have not yet transitioned to a Umo payment method and fare product are encouraged to visit bctransit.com/umo for a comprehensive introduction to adopting Umo, including video tutorials on using the Umo Mobility App and reloadable Umo card. Fare products can be loaded in the Umo app, to a reloadable Umo card online at ca.umopass.com, at a BC Transit Umo retail vendor location, or through Umo customer service toll-free at 877-380-8181.
