Transit System: Fort St. John
FORT ST JOHN – Here’s your chance to tell us what you like about
transit in Fort St John. We are conducting ridership surveys. The information
you provide to us will guide the direction of transit to help meet the changing
needs of your community.
Avid BC Transit customers will be asked to fill-in a survey every time they
ride the bus on November 29 & 30, 2012. Input from the survey will be included
in a comprehensive service review of transit in Fort St John that will be complete
in the spring of 2013.
You can also share your opinions online from November 26, 2012 until January
31, 2013 at www.bctransit.com/regions/fsj
and click on the Transit Future link.
Less than 1% of Fort St John residents use transit to commute to work. BC Transit
hopes to attract new customers and improve that statistic. By making transit
more efficient and effective, people will leave their single-occupancy vehicles
at home and make the smart, sustainable and affordable decision to ride a bus
to work.
In August 2012, route #1 was amended to better serve the new hospital. The
temporary changes also saw the Northern Lights College bus stop moved 370 metres
away from facility. We want to know how those changes are working for you.
BC Transit encourages all Fort St John residents to participate whether they
are current customers or potential new ones. In addition to the online survey,
there are also public open houses planned for the early 2013. Please check the
website regularly for updates on the dates and times.
