WHISTLER, B.C. -Winter service is coming early to Whistler Transit. Effective December 1, 2013 all routes will see increased service levels. The Full Winter schedule is being introduced nearly two weeks earlier than previous years to address growing demand for transit.
Customers will see better and more frequent coverage to Emerald Estates, Spring Creek and Function Junction. There will also be extended service hours on Route #4 Marketplace Shuttle, which will run until 9:15 p.m. to match the operating hours of skating at Whistler Olympic Plaza.
Throughout the Full Winter schedule, there will be added runs on Route #1 Valley Connector and Route #2 Whistler Creek/Cheakamus on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays; there will also be additional runs on these routes from November 16-30, 2013 to accommodate the early opening of Whistler Mountain and the American Thanksgiving.
Also effective December 1, 2013 there will be changes to cash and some ticket fares. There will now be only one cash fare for all transit riders at $2.50 and only one DayPASS at $7. Ticket bundles of 10 adult trips will be $22.50. All other fare product prices will remain the same.
The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and BC Transit are introducing the Family Travel Program. Up to three youth aged 12 and under are now able to ride free anytime when travelling with their parent or guardian who has a valid DayPASS, monthly, 6-month or 12-month pass on the Whistler Transit System.
