BC Transit and the District of Squamish are advising customers of a service expansion, effective January 4, 2026.
This service change will see more weekday trips added to Route 1 Brackendale, with one additional late evening trip on Sundays. The route will also be adjusted slightly to provide better transit access. Route 1 Brackendale will now travel via Rayburn Road instead of Hope Road, with a new stop on Rayburn at Axen.
There will be additional trips on Route 2 Highlands during the week and one late evening trip on Sundays.
To help meet the afternoon bell time for Skyridge Montessori school, there will be an additional trip on Route 4 Garibaldi.
Minor trip time adjustments are being made to routes across the system to help improve connections between routes and better meet school bell times.
Two new buses have also been added to the Squamish fleet to improve service reliability and capacity.
This service expansion in the Squamish Transit System has been made possible by an increase in local government and provincial funding. The operating grant provided in the 2025-26 provincial budget will allow BC Transit and its local government partners to continue to provide safe and reliable service and demonstrates that public transit remains a priority in our communities.
