PRINCE GEORGE – On June 29, 2012 BC Transit is bringing its ‘Transit
Future’ bus; a 40-foot, interactive public consultation tool to Prince
George for the Canada Day long weekend.
You are asked to share your vision for public transportation in Prince George.
BC Transit’s 25-year plan will be based on the input received between June
29 and July 1, 2012.
On the bus you’ll find information boards on the local transit system,
a draft of Prince George’s 25-year transit plan and iPads to complete electronic
surveys on transit service. If paper is more your speed, look for post-it notes
to share your ideas. There’s also a children’s colouring area on the
‘Transit Future’ bus so that the future riders of Prince George can
participate in the community outreach.
“Prince George is rapidly becoming a central transportation hub for British
Columbia, and public transit will play an important role in shaping the future
of our community,” said Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Pat Bell. “This
is a welcome opportunity for people to share their thoughts on transit priorities
and how they envision the way Prince George should look twenty-five years for
now.”
“As future transit options are considered for Prince George, it is important
to hear from current users and those who may want to look at alternative transportation
in the years ahead,” said Prince George-Valemount MLA Shirley Bond. “I
encourage people to take advantage of this important opportunity and provide
input to BC Transit.”
“The City of Prince George is pleased to support PW Transit with this
important initiative,” said Prince George Mayor Shari Green. “This
is another example of our community’s capacity to work together in support
of its resident.”
“In order for BC Transit to succeed in the decades to come, we must listen
to what our riders want and need,” said BC Transit President & CEO
Manuel Achadinha. “We encourage everyone to share their ideas for a strong
and sustainable public transit system in Prince George.”
