Merritt – Starting January 2, 2018, it will be easier for transit users in Merritt to get around thanks to the introduction On-Request Service, expanded service, and the arrival of a brand-new bus to serve the area.
The new On-Request Service will make the transit system more accessible, providing curb-to-curb service during four 30-minute trip windows each weekday. People wishing to use this service will need to call the Merritt Transit office at 250-378-4080 at least 24 hours in advance to set up their pick-up time. Service will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Conventional transit expansions will include the addition of four new weekday trips to route 1 North End, and frequency improvements on route 4 Nicola.
The Merritt Regional Transit System will also extend its operating hours into the evening on weekdays, and provide service on Sundays.
To make the service expansion possible, the Merritt Regional Transit System will add a third ARBOC bus to its fleet in January 2018. The new bus is one of 11 that have been arriving in five communities across the province.
