WHISTLER – March 18, 2015 is Transit Driver Appreciation Day. BC Transit and the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) are celebrating by saluting some of the extraordinary men and women who go the extra mile (kilometer) to safely provide exceptional customer service.
Whistler Transit is proud of all employees and would like to send a special salute to one operator. Geoff Gerhart is marking his 6th anniversary behind the wheel.

Geoff is customer-focused and goes above and beyond to assist his passengers. While Geoff works in the climate-controlled comfort of a bus, he loves his front row seat to Whistler’s incomparable outdoor vistas.
When he isn’t behind the wheel of a transit bus, Geoff hangs out with his daughter and lives the ultimate Whistler lifestyle – ski racing in the winter and fishing in the summer.
“Transit operators are responsible for the safety of thousands of passengers during the course of their work,” said Jordan Sturdy, MLA for West Vancouver Sea-to-Sky. “Without their training, skill and dedication we wouldn’t have the transit services that take us to schools, work and other destinations throughout our community.”
Whistler Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden said, “This year, we’ve seen several letters to the editor and customer feedback forms thanking Whistler’s transit drivers for the exceptional service that they provide to visitors and residents in the resort community. Our bus drivers are ambassadors for the community sharing tips with visitors on the busy Village Shuttle routes, reuniting passengers with their lost items, especially during the winter, making sure people get home safely. I would like to thank our bus drivers for your commitment every day.”
“BC Transit operators work hard all year long as our front-line ambassadors, providing outstanding customer service,” said BC Transit President and CEO Manuel Achadinha. “On Transit Driver Appreciation Day, I invite the public to join me in thanking our drivers for delivering daily on the company’s core values of safety, integrity and customer service.”
