VICTORIA – The Victoria Regional Transit Commission (VRTC) is pleased to support the new announcements by the Province of B.C. and Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure for future investments in transportation in the Capital Region including highways, cycling lanes and rail.
“We are delighted to hear the Minister of Transportation recognizes the importance of public transit as part of an integrated transportation solution for the entire region,” said VRTC Chair Susan Brice. “The Victoria Regional Transit Commission looks forward to working with Ministry staff and our local government partners to plan for the future and leverage the value of the priority bus lanes that have been implemented on Douglas Street.”
“We are excited that Phase 2 of the Douglas Street Priority Bus and Bike Lanes is nearing completion. To maximize this investment, and to improve traffic flow on this important corridor, it is essential that the bus lanes extend to Uptown through to the new Highway 1 McKenzie Avenue interchange.”
