Victoria – On Sunday, June 17, BC Transit encourages people in Victoria to take the bus downtown and enjoy Car Free YYJ, an annual community celebration of sustainability and living a car-free lifestyle.
For the fourth year in a row, BC Transit is pleased to be part of the festivities, and will reroute transit to support the event, while continuing to serve bus riders in the capital region.
With a nine-block stretch of Douglas Street closed to traffic for most of the day, transit service will be rerouted from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Buses that regularly run on Douglas will run on Blanshard instead, with temporary stops set up to mirror the regular stop locations on Douglas.
Transit users are advised that, due to these special adjustments, BC Transit’s online Trip Planner and regular bus schedules will not be accurate on June 17. Please be patient, expect delays, and plan accordingly.
For transit updates and maps showing Car Day YYJ rerouting, check the Customer Alerts section of the BC Transit website for the Greater Victoria Regional Transit system at bctransit.com/victoria/schedules-and-maps/alerts.
Car Free YYJ 2018 is produced by the Downtown Victoria Business Association. For more information about the event, visit downtownvictoria.ca/events/car-free-yyj.
