VICTORIA – Effective June 23, 2014, BC Transit is making seasonal service adjustments, introducing service to Thetis Lake and changing the downtown portions of Routes #27 and #28.
Summer service reductions will go into effect on routes servicing schools including the University of Victoria, Camosun College and Royal Roads University. The seasonal adjustment, allows BC Transit operations to conserve hours during underutilized summer months and to maximize service hours during peak ridership when schools are in session.
For the summer months, there will be added service on Routes #75 and #81 to accommodate extra visitors to Sidney, Brentwood Bay and Swartz Bay.
Route #53 Atkins will be extended to include trips to Thetis Lake until September 1, 2014. The inclusion of the popular summer destination came at the request of BC Transit customers following a public consultation period in the fall of 2013. The Route #49 Langford Exchange will be discontinued to due to low ridership with those resources added to other Westshore services.
During the daytime Monday through Saturday, Routes #27 and #28 will terminate at Fairfield and Blanshard rather than the Legislature to alleviate congestion at that busy terminal. On Sundays and evenings, Routes #27 and #28 will continue to serve the Beacon Hill terminus at Toronto and Huntington.
