South island operating services contract award

CORPORATE – BC Transit has awarded the contract to First Canada for operation of transit services on the south island, with the exception of Victoria conventional.

First Canada will continue operating the Cowichan Valley conventional system, Cowichan Valley commuter, and Victoria handyDART services. As of April 1, 2021, First Canada will also begin operating the Cowichan Valley handyDART and Youbou/Honeymoon Bay transit services. BC Transit is working with First Canada, Oak Transit, and Cowichan Lake Community Services on a seamless transition of services.

Schedules, routing and fares will not change as a result of this contract award.

We thank Oak Transit and Cowichan Lake Community Services for their work operating services in the Cowichan Valley and Youbou/Honeymoon Bay.

BC Transit will continue to operate the Victoria conventional transit service.
