Transit System: Cowichan Valley
COWICHAN VALLEY – A number of service improvements will be introduced on October 6, 2014 in the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System. The changes are based on extensive public consultation, a recent Paratransit study and are guided by the [REPLACED EMBEDDED “Page” LINK -> 11g Page ID: 1403640748226].
South Cowichan customers will enjoy new service to Cowichan Station and the Braithwaite areas, additional service to Arbutus Ridge and more direct two-way routing to major destinations on new Routes 8 and 9 (which replace Routes 10, 12 and 15.)
In the Lake Cowichan area, there will be new service to Cowichan Commons and broader coverage with on-request services to Youbou and Honeymoon Bay.
Duncan and North Cowichan will see increased service to Cowichan Commons, plus new service to both the Boys Road area east of Highway 1 and the north portion of Chemainus Road to Highway 1.
An additional 2,500 annual service hours will be added to handyDART. In Ladysmith, introductory handyDART services will be available on Tuesdays and Fridays. handyDART service hours will also be expanded to better match existing customer demand in the Cowichan Valley.
