Transit System: Powell River
Powell River – Bus riders in Powell River will soon benefit from improved transit service on several routes, and from the introduction of a simplified fare structure.
Starting Tuesday, July 3, transit users will be able to enjoy Saturday service and new commuter service on most weekdays on route 12 Stillwater, as well as improved weekday evening service on routes 1 Townsite/Wildwood, 2 Grief Point and 3 Upper Westview.
Other changes include new service to the Recreation Centre via alternating trips on route 3 Upper Westview, and expanded summer service on route 14 Lund, offering trips on Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays throughout July and August (in addition to the regular Tuesday and Friday trips).
Effective Sunday, July 1, the new fare structure will make it easier and more convenient to use transit by allowing customers to travel anywhere within the City of Powell River and the Powell River Regional District mainland for a single, one-way fare of $2.25. Riders may also choose to purchase a 10-ticket sheet for $20.25, a DayPass for $4.50, or a monthly pass for $45 (adults) or $32 (students and seniors). Semester passes for students will now be available for $105.
Customers travelling to Texada Island will now pay a single, one-way fare of only $8 for adults, or $5.25 for students and seniors, including ferry fare. Passengers on this route who qualify for BC Ferries’ seniors fare discount and present their valid ID at the time of boarding the bus, will only need to pay the $2.25 transit fare for the trip.
