Service expansion boost headed to Campbell River

CAMPBELL RIVER – BC Transit and the City of Campbell River are announcing a service expansion of 1,300 hours in the Campbell River Transit System effective January 6, 2020.

BC Transit works hard to match service with demand. This service expansion will look to address customer feedback received from transit customers following the 2017 service change in the Campbell River Transit System.

The service expansion will include additional service on routes:

  • Route 1 Campbellton/Willowpoint
  • 3 additional trips on weekdays
  • Route 4 Campbellton
  • 1 additional weekday trip
  • Route 6 Oyster River/Willow Point
  • 1 additional mid-evening round trip on weekdays
  • Route 7 Peterson
  • 1 additional weekday trip in the evening
  • Route 8 Quinsam/North Island College
  • Realignment of route to improve transit access in the Rockland Area
  • The bus will now travel along Kalmar, Shelbourne and Rockland Road in both directions
  • Additional southbound afternoon weekday trip departing Campbellton

Route 1 Campbellton/Willowpoint will see two of the three trips being added at the end of school day in order to address the very high demand on this route and to help disperse student passenger loads.

The realignment of route 8 Quinsam will help restore access to transit in the Rockland area.
