Transit System: Prince George
PRINCE GEORGE – Longer service days and the introduction of the new DayPASS program are headed to the Prince George Transit System this fall.
BC Transit and the City of Prince George are announcing a fare change effective September 1, 2019 and service expansion in the Prince George Transit System effective September 3, 2019.
Starting on Tuesday, September 3, the service expansion will serve to extend service hours for the Spruceland, Hart and Queensway areas in the fall, with longer service days providing more value to the customer.
The service expansion will include:
- Extended service for route 91 Spruceland/Hart until 8 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays to serve the Spruceland and Hart communities
- Extended service for route 46 Queensway until 7:30 p.m. on Sundays to meet service demands in Prince George
- Route 46 will now be utilizing a conventional sized bus to provide more capacity on the route
Starting September 1, bus riders will now be able to purchase the DayPASS right when they board the bus. This will make it more convenient to ride the bus all day within the Prince George Transit System. As part of the introduction of the DayPASS program, transfers will no longer be available in the Prince George Transit System.
Additional changes to fares in the Prince George Transit System include:
- Student/senior single ticket will increase by $0.50 to $2.50, adult monthly passes will increase by $2.50 to $60, student monthly pass will increase by $2 to $50, and semester passes will increase by $10 to $135
- The DayPASS cost will decrease for adult and discount customers by $1.25 and $0.25 respectively to $5.00
- handyDART fares will also change from $2.25 to $2.50
In addition, the Family Travel Program will now allow parents or guardians with a valid monthly pass, DayPASS, ProPASS, U-PASS or BC Bus Pass to bring up to four children (12 years and under) for free on Saturdays and Sundays.
