Kamloops – The Kamloops Transit System will be receiving a boost to their service, thanks to a 3000-hour service expansion to improve reliability.
BC Transit and the City of Kamloops are announcing a service expansion and a fare change in the Kamloops Transit System effective September 1, 2019. The service change will expand weekend and holiday service in the Kamloops Transit System and will enhance ongoing service reliability on key routes connecting to Thompson River University (TRU).
The service expansion will include:
- Service improvements on route 1 Tranquille, route 7 Aberdeen and route 9 Gleneagles
- Weekend peak-hour service frequency increase on routes 7 Aberdeen and 9 Gleneagles
- Service hour extension on routes 1 Tranquille, 7 Aberdeen, and 17 Dallas
- Route 10 North Shore TRU Express improvements
Starting September 1, bus riders will be able to purchase a DayPASS right when they board the bus. The DayPASS allows for the convenience of unlimited travel on the day of purchase within the Kamloops Transit System.
As part of the introduction of the DayPASS program, transfers and scratch-off DayPASSes will no longer be available in the Kamloops Transit System. DayPASSes can be purchased exclusively onboard the bus for $4 or with two bus tickets — exact change is required. As part of this change bus drivers will no longer issue transfers.
Student/senior tickets will increase by $2.50 to $18, while adult monthly passes will decrease by $3 to $50 and student/senior monthly pass will decrease by $4 to $30.
handyDART fares will not be affected by the fare change. Additionally, the DayPASS program is not available on handyDART.
