Kelowna – Starting Sunday, September 2, bus riders in the Kelowna Regional Transit System can expect improved frequency and modified routing on several routes to enhance reliability and ensure better connections.
Key changes involve routes serving Glenmore, and include the introduction of two new routes, 18 Glenmore/Downtown and 19 Glenmore/Orchard Park, which will replace the current route 7 Glenmore.
Offering new, all-day service every day, route 6 Glenmore/UBCO will now travel directly between Glenmore and UBCO via the new John Hindle Drive roadway. Together with the new routes 18 and 19, this will result in improved service within the Glenmore area.
Other changes include:
- Route 4 UBCO Express will now offer service on Sexsmith Rd and Academy Way
- Route 23 Lake Country will now provide service to UBCO every 15 minutes during rush hour in the mornings (7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.) and afternoons (2:30 p.m.to 6 p.m.)
- Due to low ridership, route 27 Horizon will be discontinued, with improved frequency on routes 29 Bear Creek and 97 Okanagan maintaining reliable service in the Westside area
Also effective September 2, full service will be reinstated on routes serving schools and post-secondary institutions as students head back to the classroom.
In addition to these changes, later in the fall, routes 8 University/OK College and 10 North Rutland will serve the new Rutland Exchange, improving connections with other routes serving the area. Check bctransit.com/kelowna/schedules-and-maps/alerts for updates.
