Service change effective July 1, 2020

WHISTLER – BC Transit and the Resort Municipality of Whistler are announcing a service change effective July 1, 2020 in the Whistler Transit System. This year summer service extra service will run from Canada Day through Labour Day.

BC Transit continues to work hard to provide transportation services you can rely on. We are making adjustments to service in the Whistler Transit System as part of our response to COVID-19.

The service change will include:

  • The return of Route 8 – Free Lost Lake Shuttle

  • The return of free transit on all routes on weekends and Canadian statutory holidays (Canada Day, BC Day and Labour Day). However, no extra buses will be added on these free days. Free weekends are compliments of the Resort Municipality of Whistler and Whistler Blackcomb through Day Lots 1-5 revenues.

  • Beginning seasonal summer service on July 1, a delaying 12 days from what is printed in the schedule.

  • Reductions to late night service will start July 1, 2020. Affected Routes include:

  • 5 Upper Village/Benchlands Shuttle (last bus 12:05 a.m.)

  • 7 Staff Housing (last bus 12:06 a.m.)

  • 20 Cheakamus (last bus 12:15 a.m.)

  • 30 Emerald via Alpine (last bus 12:20 a.m.)

Following the guidance of the Provincial Health Officer and WorkSafeBC, and drawing on the best practices of the transit industry worldwide, BC Transit is continuing with many of the safety measures put in place to respond to COVID-19, and is implementing additional practices and procedures to align with BC’s Restart Plan.
