Victoria – A sure sign that spring has finally arrived in the Victoria region is the seasonal increase in service to Butchart Gardens. As of April 3, Victoria Regional Transit will add more weekend trips on the 75 Saanichton/Royal Oak/Downtown, which serves the popular destination.
Regular seasonal service changes will also take effect April 3. Service on bus routes serving post-secondary schools will be reduced, matching ridership patterns at this time of year. Supplementary trips will be added, as needed between April 3 and April 21, to make sure there is adequate service to post-secondary schools during exams.
In response to feedback from customers, front-line staff and major employers, customers will notice adjustments to the seasonal service changes. For example, the 11 UVic/Tillicum Mall line will see some reduction in service, but since it has proven to be an important route for transit users other than post-secondary students, there will be more service along Gorge Road than was offered in spring 2016.
People going to and from destinations along upper Millstream Road to Bear Mountain will benefit from improved Saturday evening service on the 52 Colwood Exchange/Bear Mountain route.
Coming up in June, we can expect more service adjustments to serve popular summertime destinations.
