VICTORIA – BC Transit will be augmenting its service levels to support those attending the memorial for fallen RCMP Officer, Cst. Sarah Beckett, 2 p.m.,Tuesday, April 12, at The Q Centre (formerly Bear Mountain Arena). BC Transit will provide increased capacity, as needed, in anticipation of increased demand.

The Old Island Highway will be closed to all traffic between Six-Mile and Wale Road from 11:00 am until approximately 2 pm.

The Colwood Exchange / Juan de Fuca Park and Ride will be subject to restrictions and/or delays between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Customers who normally use that park-and-ride may wish to plan an alternative for that day.

Buses that normally travel along the Old Island Highway will be re-routed while the highway is closed. During that time:

#50 Langford Exchange / Downtown – will NOT operate along Goldstream between Veterans Memorial Parkway and Six Mile. Customers in that area should make their way to Langford Exchange for service to downtown.

Shuttle buses will operate between Goldstream at Veterans Memorial Parkway and the Old Island Highway via Wale Road and returning along Goldstream.

#39 Royal Roads/Camosun/Royal Oak/UVic – detours via Six Mile, Highway 1, Veterans Memorial Pkwy, Goldstream and Sooke Road to University Drive and reverse routing to UVic.

#52 Colwood/Millstream/Bear Mountain will not go to Colwood Exchange, but will turn around at Royal Roads.

#53 Colwood/Langford via Atkins will not go to Colwood Exchange, but will turn around at Thetis Lake.

Service on #57 Thetis Heights/Westhills will be augmented, as required, to Westhills Stadium, where the Memorial is being shown on closed-circuit TV.

BC Transit will provide an additional trip on the #70 Downtown route from the BC Ferries Swartz Bay Terminal, to accommodate passengers on the 10:00 sailing from Tsawwassen.

BC Transit will provide free transit for uniformed emergency responders who are traveling by bus to and from the memorial.
