Whistler – Starting Tuesday, April 3, bus riders in Whistler can expect regular seasonal service changes as the transit system adjusts to lower ridership levels typical of the spring, summer and fall.
The changes will mean reduced seasonal service on all bus routes at the time of year when ridership is low, allowing the Whistler Transit System to offer higher service levels during the busier summer and winter seasons.
To make this transition easier, buses will run on the Late Winter Extra Service Schedule between April 3 and Sunday, April 22.
Service reductions will include the end of the 6 p.m. – 8 a.m. complimentary shuttle service on route 7 Staff Housing. The Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) and BC Transit thank Whistler Blackcomb, the Fairmont Chateau Whistler and Gibbons Life for sponsoring this service, which will conclude on Monday, April 2.
As of Monday, April 23, the Spring/Summer/Fall Schedule will be in effect, bringing further changes, which will include the suspension of service on route 4 Marketplace Shuttle until mid-November. However, thanks to the addition of 1,764 new service hours to the Whistler Spring/Summer/Fall Schedule this year, the Whistler Transit System will be able to provide expanded summer service from June 15 to September 16—starting two weeks earlier and ending two weeks later than in previous years.
Other seasonal changes will include the return of route 8 Lost Lake Free Shuttle (mid-June through Labour Day), and expanded complimentary service on weekends and holiday Mondays (June 15 through September 16).
