School service resumes in Kamloops

BC Transit and the City of Kamloops are announcing some changes to the delivery of school service in the Kamloops transit system, effective September 4, 2022.

This year, twelve school special routes have been added to the Rider’s Guide. These routes will have new route names, numbers and maps, and will continue to offer direct service to certain schools in Kamloops. These school specials will only operate on school days and will accommodate Wednesday early dismissals at South Kamloops Secondary, Sa-Hali Secondary and Westsyde Secondary. Trip planning information for these routes and all existing routes will be available at nextride.kamloops.bctransit.com or on the Transit app on your smart phone.

With the return of school, BC Transit will also re-introduce full service to Thompson Rivers University and K–12 schools on all routes. The fall service change will impact weekday service only, no changes are being made to weekend service at this time.

BC Transit’s ridership has recovered to approximately 75 per cent on average across the province. BC Transit thanks riders in Kamloops for their continued support in bringing local ridership to over 80 per cent of pre-pandemic numbers.
