VICTORIA – BC Transit is partnering with organizers of Rock The
Shores to provide extra transit service to the Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre
in Colwood on July 13 and 14, 2013.
Last year, thousands of people packed the Juan de Fuca Recreation (lower field)
to listen to world-class musicians. Many of those Rock The Shores participants
chose BC Transit to get to and from the event.
This year’s Rock The Shores will be a two day festival. With funding from
event organizers, BC Transit will dedicate a total of more than 120 service
hours and provide transit supervisors on-scene to support the festival and to
ensure music lovers can rely on public transportation to safely see them home.
“With more buses serving the Colwood event, BC Transit is the safe and
smart solution for carefree concert-going,” said BC Transit President and
CEO Manuel Achadinha. “We hope everyone who attends Rock The Shores leaves
their driving and parking worries at home.”
“Alternative and sustainable transportation options are essential for
events of this size. We are very happy with this year’s partnership with
BC Transit,” says event organizer Nick Blasko of Atomique Productions Ltd.
