VICTORIA – BC Transit and the Victoria Regional Transit Commission (VRTC) are looking for customer input as they consider changes to the current pets on buses policy.
The current policy, in place for more than ten years, allows for pets in secure, clean, hand-held carriers. Certified assistance animals are allowed on BC Transit buses at all times.
At the request of the VRTC, BC Transit staff is reviewing a request to expand the current policy to allow all dogs on Victoria Regional Transit buses. This review does not apply to other pets, such as cats, at this time.
Feedback from the public will help shape the future of the pets on buses policy. Please share your opinion online through our dogs policy survey. You can also comment via email at dogs@bctransit.com or by phone at 250.995.5683 until November 9, 2014.
A final report on expanding the dogs on buses policy will be presented to the VRTC at the next Commission meeting.
