Today, the Province of BC announced further appointments for the BC Transit Board of Directors, effective April 1, 2023. The new Board members were appointed by Order In Council, and are as follows:
-
Sherri Bell – Chair
-
David Cubberley
New BC Transit Board of Directors Chair Sherri Bell was the President of Camosun College from 2015 until her retirement in early 2022. Prior to that she worked in the Greater Victoria School District for 20 years, serving in various senior administrative capacities, including Superintendent of Schools/Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, Sherri was also the Board Chair of the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE) and Chair of British Columbia Colleges.
While we welcome our newly appointed members, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank our latest outgoing appointees for their contributions to BC Transit:
-
Catherine Holt – Chair
-
Wendal Milne
Catherine Holt had served as Board Chair since late 2017. She led the Board through an unprecedented time in public transit, and championed our Low Carbon Fleet Program, SmartBus initiatives and many other projects designed to improved sustainability and reliability. BC Transit is grateful for her passion and commitment during her time leading the Board.
BC Transit is a Crown Corporation governed by a Board of Directors, which is appointed by the Province according to criteria specified in the British Columbia Transit Act. The Act requires four of the board members to be locally-elected representatives. The Board of Directors, through the Chair, reports to the Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure (designated as the Minister responsible for BC Transit).
