Transit System: Campbell River
Campbell River – Travelling by public transit in Campbell River is even more convenient with the Trip Planner now live on the Campbell River Transit System website.
“The new trip planner will not only help people get to work and school, but also make it easier to explore other parts of Campbell River with sustainable and affordable public transit,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “I encourage everyone to check out how simple it is to use this free service.”
The BC Transit Trip Planner is a public transportation planning tool that combines the latest BC Transit schedule and route information with the power of Google Maps. Type in trip origin, destination, date, and time of departure or desired arrival; and the most direct bus routes, connections and times are automatically calculated for you.
“This is a really exciting announcement. It’s great for everyone living in our community to have access to this automatic planning information right at their fingertips”, said Deborah Sargent, City of Campbell River City Manager. “Transit is key to future of transportation across our community and the region, and we’re really happy to see it become even more user-friendly through this convenient service.”
In Campbell River, BC Transit provided more than 600,000 passenger trips in 2015/16. The introduction of BC Transit Trip Planner will encourage ridership growth, demonstrating that public transportation is a convenient alternative to single occupancy vehicles.
“Existing and new transit customers alike will benefit from user-friendly route information,” said Erinn Pinkerton, BC Transit Executive Director of Business Development. “The trip planner allows customers to see complete door-to-door trip details of their route including the walking distance to and from the bus stop.”
