New operator named for transit services in the northwest

Corporate – As of April 1, 2018, Pacific Western Transit Canada will begin operating transit services in the northwest on behalf of BC Transit.

The systems that will be operated by the new company include:

  • the Prince Rupert Transit System
  • the Port Edward Transit System
  • the Kitimat Transit System
  • the Terrace Regional Transit System
  • the Skeena Regional Transit System
  • the Hazeltons Regional Transit System

The contract award to Pacific Western Transportation, a Canadian company, follows an open and transparent procurement process that adheres to Government of B.C. legislation.

BC Transit thanks First Transit for their commitment and dedication to delivering transit services in the northwest.

Schedules, routing and fares will not change as a result of the change in operating company. BC Transit is working with Pacific Western Transportation and First Transit to ensure a seamless transition of services.
