New fare structures and service changes implemented in the Dawson Creek Transit System

DAWSON CREEK – BC Transit and the City of Dawson Creek are implementing a service change effective Monday, June 29, 2020 and a fare change effective Wednesday, July 1, 2020 in the Dawson Creek Transit System.

The City of Dawson Creek requested a service reduction, and elected to proceed with the changes below.

BC Transit and Dawson Creek worked together to develop new routing maps, schedules and a riders guide to assist customers with this service change.

This service change will see changes throughout the transit system including:

  • Discontinuation of route 3 Central
  • Routing adjustments on route 2 Southside
  • Schedule changes and service hour reductions
  • Discontinuation of Saturday service
  • Removal and relocation of bus stops

The fare change will introduce the DayPASS-on-Board program to the Dawson Creek Transit System. The DayPASS offers unlimited travel in the system on the purchase day. DayPASSes can be purchased exclusively on board the bus for $4.50 or exchanged for two bus tickets.

As part of this change bus drivers will no longer issue transfers.

As part of this fare change Dawson Creek will introduce the Family Travel Program. Family Travel offers adult customers (19+) with a valid pass (Monthly Pass, DayPASS, BC Bus PASS) the ability to bring up to four children (12 years and under) on board for free.

This program helps children to become comfortable and confident using transit, increasing the likelihood of transit use in the future.
