More Commuter and Evening Service for Kootenay Boundary

KOOTENAY BOUNDARY – Starting on March 26, 2012 commuter-friendly and late evening service are coming to the Kootenay Boundary Regional Transit System.

Service improvements include extending the hours of our early evening runs, adding more trips during the work day along the corridor and introducing Friday late night runs on the most populated routes. The changes are a direct result of input we received from our customers. The extension of service hours on Routes #3, #6 and #9 will make transit more appealing to commuters. Plus route #9 includes a stop at Chances Casino.

“In partnership with the Kootenay Boundary Regional District, we are pleased to provide this expanded and improved service,” said Manuel Achadinha, President and CEO of BC Transit. “BC Transit is committed to listening and meeting the needs of both our ridership and our community partners.”

“Transit users appreciate being a part of the public process to develop new and expanded service,” said Kootenay East MLA Bill Bennett. “Public input makes for a better system especially those who commute to and from work.”

“Our community has long been asking for improvements to transit services and particularly some later service, so we are very pleased that working with our partners at BC Transit and Trail Transit has brought about this very good news,” said Kathy Wallace, Chair of the East End Services Committee and Rossland City Councillor

Change Highlights:

  • Extended Monday to Friday evening service on most routes from 5 pm to 6:30 pm
  • More service hours during the day on corridor routes #3, #6 and #9
  • Friday night runs until 9:30 pm on routes #3, #6 and #9
