VICTORIA – BC Transit and CAW 333 have agreed to mediation.
BC Transit believes a mediator can be an effective tool that will assist both
parties in moving forward and achieving a fair and reasonable contract.
The collective agreement with the union representing 650 BC Transit operators,
mechanics and maintenance staff expired on March 31, 2012.
Negotiations between the two sides have broken down twice in the past four
weeks.
Mediation begins tomorrow.
BC Transit remains hopeful a settlement can be achieved. In the meantime, we
are committed to providing a world-class public transit system and delivering
high quality customer service. Please consult our website www.bctransit.com
for customer alerts as we manage our system through challenging circumstances.
