Life's a Beach on BC Transit

COMOX VALLEY – It’s easy to enjoy summer with BC Transit in the Comox Valley thanks to the return of the Goose Spit Park Beach Bus. Your carefree commute to the park will run, seven days a week, from June 21 to September 7, 2014.

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) and BC Transit urge residents and tourists to leave their driving and parking worries behind and take advantage of the Beach Bus. Goose Spit Park is home to spectacular surf, sand, scenery and coastal wildlife.

The Beach Bus to Goose Spit Park will see four return trips Monday to Friday, extended weekend service and an additional service running from Thrifty’s on Ryan Road direct to the park on Sundays.

“Now it’s more convenient than ever to enjoy the great recreation opportunities we have in the Comox Valley,” said Comox Valley MLA Don McRae. “Just pack up sunscreen, water, towels, other necessities and board the Beach Bus.”

“Traffic and parking at Goose Spit on weekends in the summer can be pretty frustrating,” said Edwin Grieve, chair of the CVRD’s board of directors. “The bus to the beach is a great alternative to those hassles, and a great option for anyone to just jump on board and get to the park to enjoy some time at the beach all summer long.”

“We are pleased to partner with the CVRD to deliver this popular seasonal service,” said BC Transit President and CEO Manuel Achadinha. “We hope our customers enjoy summer with BC Transit by exploring the Comox Valley.”

Regular fares apply; $1.75 for adults and $1.50 for seniors/youth.

In order to promote transit use year-round, Comox Valley residents are invited to enter a contest to win a monthly pass. The contest runs throughout Beach Bus season. A draw to win a monthly pass will be held monthly until September 7, 2014. Contest entries are welcome at www.bctransit.com/regions/com/contest
