Kamloops – This fall, the Kamloops Transit System is adding new trips on weekends and evenings on several routes.
These improvements are possible due to the addition of a total of 4,000 new service hours to the system, funded by the City of Kamloops and the Province of British Columbia.
Starting September 3, bus riders will benefit from improved weekend service on routes 1 Tranquille, 3 Westsyde, 4 Pacific Way, 7 Aberdeen, 9 Gleneagles, 13 Yellowhead, 14 Batchelor Heights, and 16 Juniper Ridge. Customers can also expect better evening service on routes 4 Pacific Way, 5 Pineview, 7 Aberdeen, 10 North Shore Express and 16 Juniper Ridge, with the last buses on these routes leaving between one and two hours later in the evening.
To improve performance and efficiency, route 10 North Shore Express will now stop at only six bus stops along the route. Route 17 Dallas will be rerouted form Tanager Drive to Grand Boulevard to better serve the growing Dallas neighbourhood.
Other changes include enhanced rush hour service on route 1 and the addition of Sunday-level service on Good Friday and Easter Sunday on all routes. The improvements also address on-time performance on routes 7 and 9 during peak use periods.
These service changes are a result of the Kamloops Transit Future Plan and customer feedback over the past year.
