handyDART expansion coming to Kitimat Transit System

BC Transit and the District of Kitimat are informing riders of an expansion to handyDART service and return to full schedule for conventional service effective March 6, 2022. Once in service, the handyDART expansion will offer equal service hours as Kitimat’s regular transit service.

Aligned transit services between handyDART and conventional means that all customers in the Kitimat Transit System have equal access to transit throughout the system. The handyDART expansion includes an additional 950 hours and allows BC Transit to provide customers with more access and reliability when using the handyDART service. In December 2021 conventional service was temporarily adjusted and included a minor reduction on routes 1A, 1B, 2 and 3 on Fridays and Sundays in the Kitimat Transit System. That service is being fully reinstated effective March 6.

handyDART is an accessible, door-to-door shared transit service for people with permanent or temporary disabilities that prevent them from using fixed-route transit without assistance from another person. BC Transit works hard to match the needs of custom transit services across the province.
