WHISTLER – Starting on Canada Day, transit users in Whistler will be able to ride the bus for free on weekends and holiday Mondays throughout the summer.
The free service will kick off every Saturday at 5 a.m., and remain in effect until the last bus on Sundays or holiday Mondays (July 3, August 7 and September 4). The initiative will end with the last scheduled bus on Labour Day Monday, September 4. On the free weekends this summer, the Whistler Transit System will be increasing service to approximately every 15 minutes between Cheakamus and Emerald from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on routes 1 Valley Connector and 2 Whistler Creek/Cheakamus.
The initiative is a partnership between BC Transit, the Resort Municipality of Whistler, and Whistler Blackcomb, and is in response to the success of the free Saturday service introduced last August. The free Saturday service was immensely popular with residents and visitors alike.
The complimentary weekend service is a key element of the Whistler 2017 Transportation Action Plan and supplements the popular Lost Lake Shuttle, a free service that connects Whistler Village with Lost Lake every summer. This year, the Lost Lake Shuttle will run from June 24 through Labour Day Monday, September 4, 2017.
