Free transit service for Veterans’ Week and Remembrance Day in the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System

The Cowichan Valley Regional District (CVRD) and BC Transit are providing free transit service to Veterans and Armed Forces personnel in the Cowichan Valley Regional Transit System starting on November 4, 2021 in support of Veterans’ Week and Remembrance Day.

While recognition of Veterans’ Week may be shifting once again due to COVID-19, the CVRD and BC Transit will still be offering free service to honour those who have served and continue to serve in the Canadian Armed Forces. Free transit will be available, with appropriate identification, for veterans and Canadian Forces members on all scheduled routes and handyDART services from November 4 through to November 10. This will not include commuter routes 66, 99 and 44.

On Remembrance Day, November 11, all scheduled routes and handyDART services will be free for all riders. Scheduled routes will run on a Sunday schedule and handyDART service will be running on a Saturday schedule. Please note that commuter routes, Ladysmith, Youbou and Honeymoon Bay local routes do not operate on November 11.

BC Transit supports those bus drivers who choose to stop their bus, if it is safe to do so, at 11 a.m. on November 11, to observe the traditional minute of silence in memory of those who gave their lives and service in times of war.
