CORPORATE – A record number of BC Transit communities are helping high school graduates celebrate their accomplishments with GradPASS. The special pass offers two days of free, unlimited transit travel during the month of June. A total of 21,500 GradPASS cards will be given to Grade 12 students in communities in 21 BC Transit systems.
[Asset Included(Id:1403643213262;Type:Image_C)]GradPASS was first introduced in Vancouver in 1988 as part of the Counterattack Program. The Victoria Regional Transit System embraced the program in 1990. Over the past 27 years, the number of participating communities has grown.
In 2015, GradPASS will be given to students in participating transit systems listed at the top of this article.
“Wherever life’s journey takes the Class of 2015, I hope the path is smooth and the travels safe – especially during graduation celebrations,” said Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone. “To that end, I urge grads to take advantage of the free two-day transit GradPASS.”
“Best wishes to all the graduates as they begin the next chapter of their lives,” said BC Transit President and CEO Manuel Achadinha. “We hope this graduation present is the start of a lifetime commitment to choosing public transit as a sustainable transportation choice.”
GradPASS is easy to use: students simply scratch off their two chosen travel days and show the card to their bus driver. GradPASS is not transferable and can only be used on participating local systems.
