Transit System: Prince Rupert
PRINCE RUPERT – The City of Prince Rupert and BC Transit are getting into the holiday season with extended hours leading up to Christmas and FREE service on New Year’s Eve.
It will be Friday night every night with Shoppers’ Specials on December 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, and 23, 2013. Transit hours will be extended to around 10 pm to accommodate late-night shoppers and holiday celebrants. The later transit hours are being offered on routes #51, #52, #53 and #54.
BC Transit encourages everyone to make the safe and smart choice to ride transit on New Year’s Eve. Take advantage of free rides on December 31 from 6:45 pm until 3:30 am on local Prince Rupert routes. Plus with added support from the District of Port Edward, there will be free rides on New Year’s Eve the route #60. Buses will be leaving Prince Rupert bound for Port Edward at 6:10 pm, 7:10 pm, 9:30 pm, 10:10 pm, 1 am, 2 am and 3 am.
BC Transit customers should be aware of holiday schedule changes:
December 24 – regular weekday service ends at 6:45 pm
December 25 – no service
December 26 – no service
December 31 – regular weekday service, plus FREE New Year’s Eve service 6:45 pm to 3:30 am
January 1 – no service
January 2 – regular service resumes
