Free transit in the Victoria Regional Transit System for Go By Bike

The Victoria Regional Transit Commission and BC Transit are offering free transportation for cyclists during Go By Bike Week, from October 3 to October 9.

In order to ride for free in the Victoria Regional Transit System, Go By Bike Week participants must use the bus bike racks or show their bike helmet when boarding the bus.

BC Transit buses are equipped with bike racks on the front of the bus, making it easier for cyclists to combine two forms of sustainable transportation when travelling longer distances – or when the weather changes throughout the day and makes cycling more challenging than it was first thing in the morning.

BC Transit representatives will be at the Saanich Municipal Hall on October 6 from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m., demonstrating how to use the bike racks on the front of BC Transit buses.

Please be advised that bike racks on community buses and smaller fleet buses cannot be used after dark, since they obstruct the headlights. To learn more about travelling with your bike on the bus, visit: bctransit.com/victoria/riderinfo/bike-racks-and-lockers.
