The Victoria Regional Transit Commission and BC Transit are happy to announce free transit for cyclists during the annual GoByBike Week, September 19 – 25, 2026.
To qualify for free transit, customers taking part in GoByBike Week must use the bus bike racks or show their bike helmet when boarding the bus.
With bike racks on all conventional BC Transit buses, using two forms of sustainable transit is easier than ever. This also allows for more flexibility if there is a change in the weather throughout the day – sunshine on the way into work but rain and cold wind on the way home, put the bike on the bus and enjoy a free ride.
Most bikes can be accommodated on BC Transit buses but please note that bike space is limited and cannot be guaranteed. More information about travelling with your bike on the bus can be found here.
BC Transit will be taking part in this year’s UVic Celebration Station outside the McPherson Library on September 23 from 8 a.m. until noon. Representatives from BC Transit will be there to answer questions and give live demonstrations of using a bus bike rack.
BC Transit is a long-time proud partner of GoByBike Week in Victoria. For more about the GoByBike Week festivities, click here.
We encourage our customers to use the Umo app, Google Transit or any other app of their choice for real-time bus tracking and planning your next transit journey.
