Transit System: Williams Lake
WILLIAMS LAKE – The City of Williams Lake and BC Transit are pleased to offer FREE rides on Saturday, June 6, 2015 in support of Access Awareness Day.
The conventional transit fleet in Williams Lake is 100 per cent accessible and with its regularly scheduled service, it is an efficient and effective way to travel. The free rides on June 6 also apply to registered and qualified handyDART customers.
Access Awareness Day, an annual celebration on the first Saturday in June, is a comprehensive campaign to raise awareness about accessibility and inclusion.

“Access Awareness Day is a great way to raise awareness about the importance of providing accessible and inclusive services,” said Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes. “It’s also an opportunity to showcase the fully accessible service that BC Transit provides here in Williams Lake.”
“Accessibility is something that we all need to address, because accessibility issues are not limited to the disabled,” said Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb. “The City is proud of our 100 per cent accessible transit, and we are working continuously with the Accessibility Advisory Committee and community partners to improve accessibility in various ways across Williams Lake.”
“Making our services accessible to everyone is a top priority for BC Transit,” said President and CEO Manuel Achadinha. “We’re proud of our role to help connect our customers with their communities and get them safely to work, school, appointments and social events. Thank you to the City of Williams Lake for supporting this important celebration.”
