Free fare for the Northeast BC National Aboriginal Day events

Fort St. John – The City of Fort St. John and BC Transit are pleased to offer free transit on all routes on Thursday, June 21, to encourage people to participate in Northeast BC National Aboriginal Day events.

Events will take place at the Northern Lights College, and will include traditional hand games, storytelling, Tse’K’wa Cave tours, talent show, tea dance, and a communal lunch and dinner. More details are available on the North East Native Advancing Society Facebook page.

Celebrated for the first time in 1996, National Aboriginal Day recognizes and celebrates the cultures and achievements of First Nations, Inuit and Metis peoples in Canada. The Canadian Constitution recognizes these three groups as Aboriginal people, also known as Indigenous peoples, which is why June 21 is observed across the country as National Indigenous Peoples Day.
