PORT ALBERNI – BC Transit and the City of Port Alberni are delighted
to announce transit is free on Saturday, August 4, 2012.
In honour of Port Alberni’s Centennial year celebrations; Homecoming Weekend
runs August 3 to 6, 2012. The height of the Homecoming Weekend is August 4 with
dozens of community events.
FREE RIDE SATURDAY, AUGUST 4
Take a free ride on a BC Transit bus to catch the Puddle Duck Races in the
Harbour Quay on Saturday morning.
Visit our BC Transit information booth in the Council Chambers of Port Alberni
City Hall (4860 Argyle Street) from 9 am until 11 am. We’ll have safety
lights and stickers for our customers and supporters.
Ride BC Transit Saturday afternoon and evening to Bob Dailey Stadium for music,
art, a kids’ zone, a car show featuring 100 years of transportation and
loggers’ sports. Activities at the stadium run from the official opening
of Homecoming Weekend at noon until 9 pm.
BC Transit encourages everyone in Port Alberni to celebrate 100 years of rich
history by making safe transportation choices including transit. Transit, itself,
is marking a milestone in Port Alberni with its 40th anniversary.
“Congratulations Port Alberni on 100 years,” said BC Transit President
& CEO Manuel Achadinha. “Port Alberni is one of BC Transit’s most
productive systems and we look forward to serving you as you carve out another
100 years.”
Regular fares apply for the remainder of the Homecoming Weekend. Adult fares
are $1.75 and the senior/student rate is $1.50.
